The Reserve at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana will play host to “The Match” on July 6. The Jack Nicklaus-designed signature course has a new pairing and opponent for recent PGA Championship winner Phil Mickelson.
The odds suggest Bryson DeChambeau and Aaron Rodgers should win over Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. DraftKings Sportsbook opened DeChambeau and Rodgers a -160 favorite, while the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas opened those two a -200 favorite. Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill has the new pair -180, and another bookmaker in Las Vegas, Station Casino’s, opened DeChambeau and Rodgers a -130 favorite.
The Reserve’s 8,000-yard private course – with a 7,500-foot elevation – is surrounded by some of the most picturesque scenery in Montana, and at the centerpiece is the par-5, 777-yard 17th hole.
While big hitters DeChambeau and Mickelson launch mammoth drives through the thin air, Brady and Rodgers will take aim at the flags and greens on alternate shots. Brady plays to a handicap of 8.1 while Rodgers golf handicap is 4.6, according to USGA.

The fourth edition of the golf exhibition will be the second time two PGA Tour pros pair with a pro football player. In May of 2020, Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning defeated Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady on the final hole of a damp day and 18-hole match. But the result was far less important than the cause. The Match: Champions for Charity at Medalist Golf Club in South Florida raised $20 million for COVID-19 relief efforts while highlighting the ups and downs of competitive golf.
This year’s July 6 exhibition event will focus on the importance of supporting community. Capital One’s The Match will include donations made to Feeding America, among additional charitable beneficiaries.
The Match on July 6 takes place between the U.S. Open starting June 17 at Torrey Pines near San Diego, and The Open Championship at Royal St. George’s in England. DeChambeau is the defending U.S. Open champion, and will join Mickelson in both events. Aaron Rodgers heads to South Lake Tahoe for the American Century Championship celebrity golf event at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course July 9-11. And then potentially NFL training camp, along with Tom Brady. DeChambeau will also play on the U.S. Ryder Cup team Sept. 21-26 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. Mickelson has moved up to No. 16 in the standings, and is an outside potential captain’s pick.
The Match competition format will be modified alternate shot match play, and once again feature unprecedented access with all players having open mics throughout the entire competition. The bantering and trash talk has already begun.
Turner Sports presents Capital One’s The Match, the Sports Emmy-nominated premier live golf event series. The event will be televised July 6 on TNT starting at 5:00 p.m. ET. Interactive social and digital content will be available on Bleacher Report and House of Highlights leading up to and during the event.
Autotrader will be the presenting sponsor of Capital One’s The Match’s pre-show coverage. Progressive Insurance will return as a presenting sponsor, and DraftKings is back as content integration partner for Capital One’s The Match. Additional partners will be shared prior to the event.
Along with more trash talking and side bets from the foursome.
You can bet on it.
