Inter Miami CF look to halt an ugly six-game losing streak when they host the Philadelphia Union on Sunday night.
Inter Miami have been blanked five times during the stretch in which they have been outscored 13-1. They were routed 5-0 by the visiting New England Revolution on Wednesday when they placed just one of 15 shots on target.
The second-year franchise has scored the fewest goals (nine) in MLS and is at the bottom of the standings with just eight points. Miami is 2-8-2 overall and 0-5-1 at home.

Goalkeeper Nick Marsman called on his teammates to step up their effort.
“Sunday we have to go again and we spoke a lot about it but I think now we have to show it on the pitch,” Marsman said. “We can speak many more but now we really have to act and so we have to stand together and get that win.”
Coincidentally, one of Inter Miami’s two wins came against the Union (6-4-5, 23 points) when they rallied for a 2-1 road victory on April 24.
Jamiro Monteiro gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute before Miami star Gonzalo Higuain scored in the 73rd minute and older brother Federico tallied the winner 10 minutes later.
While Philadelphia rebounded well from the early-season setback, it certainly has concerns.
The Union are 1-2-1 over their last four matches, which includes Thursday’s 2-1 loss to Orlando City.

And that loss at Orlando City leaves Philadelphia 0-2-3 over its last five road games. The Union’s last road win was May 23 against D.C. United.
The fact that Miami hasn’t won since May 16 against FC Cincinnati doesn’t deter Philadelphia coach Jim Curtin from believing Sunday’s match will be a tough one.
“It’s still a very strong opponent and it’s a tricky game because they’ll have a response after a disappointing result, so we have to be on top of our game,” Curtin said. “There are no easy games in this league, and it’ll be a hard match against a team that is desperate for points, so we’ll have to be really sharp for the entirety of the 90 minutes.”
Matthew Freese will be in goal for the Union with star goalie Andre Blake (Jamaica) away for the Gold Cup.
Kacper Przybylko leads Philadelphia with five goals. He had the lone tally versus Orlando City.
Gonzalo Higuain paces Miami with five goals.
