NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer program is set to host Butler in an exhibition match-up on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Adelaide Street Field. Admission is free.
Illinois State is coming off a 4-7-1 spring 2021 campaign in which five players earned All-MVC accolades. In addition to being named All-MVC First Team, fifth-year senior Ashley Santos was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team.
In all, the Redbirds return 24 student-athletes from the spring 2021 team while adding five freshmen and one transfer to the roster.
Butler finished 10-2 in the spring 2021 season, receiving votes in the final United Soccer Coaches poll.
Illinois State is scheduled to open the season at Eastern Michigan on August 19.
