MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Saturday the team's decision to not match the offer sheet made by the Carolina Hurricanes to restricted free agent Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
"Carolina has used a tool available to them in the collective bargaining agreement and we accept that decision," said Bergevin.
As compensation, the Canadiens receive a first and third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft from the Hurricanes.
