Bryson DeChambeau vs. Brooks Koepka date, time, TV schedule & more to know for 2021 golf match - Sporting News

The most infamous feud in the golf world will be on center stage for the fifth edition of "The Match" taking place on Friday, Nov. 26.

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will compete in a 12-hole competition in Las Vegas to finally settle their feud once and for all. Well, supposedly anyway. "The Match" began in 2018 between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, and since then, the competition is typically between two teams made up of a golfer and another famous athlete who golfs. For instance, the fourth edition of "The Match" had DeChambeau and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers competing against Mickelson and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

The Koepka-DeChambeau feud may be well over, especially after the two appeared hugging and celebrating with each other after Team USA's win in the Ryder Cup at the end of September. Even if they have made up, expect a lot of trash talk between these two golfers, especially given their history.

Here's everything you need to know about when The Match 5 takes place, along with how to watch and who you'll be listening to on the broadcast.

Where is The Match?

  • Location: Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Wynn Golf Club course is located on the Las Vegas strip and is a 6,722-yard, par-70 course. However, DeChambeau and Koepka will only be playing 12 of the 18 holes.

The course hasn't been featured on television for any PGA Tour events in its history.

The Match golf format

DeChambeau and Koepka will be competing in match play for this edition of "The Match." This format is similar to the Ryder Cup's format, in which the players will compete to shoot the lowest score on each hole. Whoever shoots the lowest score on the individual hole, that person will get a point added to their score. If they tie on a hole, that hole will be halved. Whoever wins the most holes by the end of 12 holes wins.

The Match purse 2021

DeChambeau and Koepka will be competing against each other for bragging rights, but they will also be competing for charity. Turner Sports announced that this event will donate money to Advocates Pro Golf Association Tour and Feeding America, in addition to DeChambeau contributing to Shriner's Hospital and Koepka donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Additionally, there are certain holes on the course that allow DeChambeau and Koepka to compete to donate more money to the charities listed above. Here's a lay out of those competitive holes.

  • Hole 3: The par four hole is titled "DraftKings Closest to the Hole." Whoever lands their tee shot closest to the hole will be able to donate $50,000 to their charity of choice. If they land within five feet of the hole, an additional $150,000 will be donated. If one of the golfers has a hole-in-one, $2 million will be additionally donated.
  • Hole 6: The par three hole is titled "Wheels Up/Meals Up and Feeding America Closest to the Hole." Whoever lands their tee shot closest to the hole will have 500,000 meals donated to Feeding America in their name. If they are within five feet of the hole, an additional 1.5 million meals will be donated. If they have a hole-in-one, 20 million meals will be donated. 100,000 water bottles will be donated by ZenWTR.
  • Hole 7: The par five hole is titled "Capital One Venture X Long Drive Challenge." Whoever hits the longest drive off the tee will have $200,000 donated in the player's name.
  • Hole 9: The par three hole is titled "ZipRecruiter Closest to the Hole." The same rules and results apply from Hole 3 with this hole.
  • Hole 11: The par three hole is titled "Wagoneer Closest to the Hole." The same rules and results apply from Hole 3 and Hole 11 with this hole.

The only other version of "The Match" that showcased two golfers going head-to-head (Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson in 2018) had a grand prize of $9 million given to Mickelson as the winner. Otherwise, the other three versions of "The Match" have given money to charity, raising nearly $30 million in the last couple years.

However, DeChambeau and Koepka have an opportunity to increase their chances of earning more money in the inaugural year of the PGA Tour's new initiative, Player Impact Program. This program gives out $40 million to 10 different golfing stars of the year based on fan engagement. Even without "The Match," DeChambeau and Koepka were likely to get money from PIP due to their year-long feud.

The Match golf odds

Caesers Sportsbook opened "The Match" odds putting DeChambeau as a slight favorite with -118 odds over Koepka's -105 odds.

DeChambeau heads into "The Match" as the No. 7 golfer ranked in the Official World Golf Rankings list, along with finishing as No. 7 in the 2021 FedEx Cup rankings. DeChambeau is also a previous winner of "The Match" after he secured his first win at this event in July 2021 with teammate Aaron Rodgers.

Koepka, on the other hand, is currently ranked No. 15 in the OWGR list, and he finished in the No. 30 spot in FedEx Cup rankings. This will be Koepka's first time competing in any edition of "The Match."

Who has won 'The Match' in previous years?

There have been four other editions of "The Match" dating back to fall of 2018 when Tiger Woods faced Phil Mickelson one-on-one. This edition of "The Match" will be the first time Phil Mickelson hasn't competed on the course.

This is DeChambeau's second appearance in "The Match," but it's Koepka's first time competing.
