Sergio Ramos: Injury-plagued PSG defender ruled out of yet another match - The Athletic

Sergio Ramos will miss yet another match for Paris Saint-Germain just a week after he made his long-awaited debut for the French club.

Ramos, 35, joined PSG on a free transfer after the expiration of his Real Madrid contract.

PSG saw fit to hand the veteran defender a two-year deal — but the Spaniard was forced to wait until last Sunday to make his first appearance for the club having arrived in Paris with a calf problem.

Ramos played the full ninety minutes as PSG beat Saint-Etienne 3-2. But he was left out of the squad that drew 0-0 with Nice and will play no part in Saturday’s match against Lens.

And PSG have said in a statement that the defender’s workload had been “adapted for muscle fatigue” — ruling him out of his 21st match of the season.

The club said: “Sergio Ramos, whose workload has been adapted for muscle fatigue following the resumption in competition, will resume training with the squad on Sunday.”

PSG currently sit top of Ligue 1, with a 17-point lead over Marseille in second.

Adblock test (Why?)
