MATCH PREVIEW:

Valour FC continues its road stretch to start the 2022 Canadian Premier League season with a third straight match away from home courtesy a visit to the nation’s capital.

Winless through the first two matches – a 1-1 draw in Edmonton and last Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Pacific FC – Valour is looking to grab more road points before returning to IG Field for the May 1st home opener versus Forge FC.

They will get some bodies back from injury against Ottawa with the return of centre back Andrew Jean-Baptiste and midfielder Brett Levis. As well, Matthew Catavolo returns from training camp with Canada’s U-20 in Costa Rica and should also be available.

Atlético Ottawa, meanwhile, is off to a fantastic start with a pair of 1-nil wins in their first two matches – over Cavalry FC in their opener and HFX Wanderers last weekend – posting consecutive wins for the first time in the franchise’s short CPL history.

VALOUR FC SPOTLIGHT:

#35 Andrew Jean-Baptiste, D: Valour could get a key component back against Atleti, with ‘The Beast’ possibly playing minutes in Sunday’s match. One of the most dominant players in the CPL during last year’s ‘Kickoff’ bubble in Winnipeg, Jean-Baptiste had his season come to an abrupt end in just his seventh match with a knee injury and after months and months of rehab should make his first appearance for the club since last July.

CRITICAL NUMBER

13

Valour has managed just 13 shots through its first two matches, the lowest total in the CPL. Interestingly, they do post the league’s best goal-conversion rate – shot conversion for goals — at 23.08%. Translation: they need more shots on target.

All-Time: Valour FC vs. Atlético Ottawa (win-draw-loss): 4-0-1
